OFFSPRING PROJECT: THE STRIKING SIXTH COOKBOOKFEED THE SIXTH!!MISSION Supporting the 6th Marine Division Association involves time, energy, and money. Given that an organizational purpose of the Sons and Daughters Group (SDG) is to support the men and memory of the Striking Sixth, we decided that our first major fund raising objective is to create a cookbook with the working title of, "The Striking Sixth Cookbook". This will be an unusual cookbook because it will certainly contain recipes, and good ones I am sure, but it will also contain pictures, memories, and stories from you, the members and family of the fantastic 6th Marine Division. PROJECT LEADER Linda Spangler, daughter of Jack A. Snyder, Hq-3-29, is the leader for the Cookbook project. Linda is a Certified Emergency Manager so she certainly has experience accomplishing goals and meeting deadlines while under pressure. She has written numerous technical articles about Search and Rescue as well as Emergency Management and has recently completed a family memorial cookbook for her daughters. Jack loved to tell stories about his life and times with the 6th and many of them involved food, or lack thereof; making "raisinjack", and looking forward to home cooked food. She has volunteered to be project leader as a labor of love and remembrance for her father. GOALWe have an ambitious goal to meet. Our cookbook assembled, printed and ready for sale not later than April 1, 2005. Therefore, submissions must begin immediately and may continue until January 31, 2005. The following is a "recipe" for what you can do to ensure that this cookbook is like the Striking Sixth, the best! Categories The cookbook will contain the following categories:
Ingredients Gather:
Instructions NOTE: It is preferred that you submit your recipes and stories on a disk or CD, using WORD in a PC format. You may email them to me but put them as an attachment in the email. Also, submit pictures in .jpg (jpeg) format. Don't panic! For those of you not using a computer, you may also send them by snail mail; contact info to follow. Be sure all information sent contains your full name, not just your e-mail name, and full contact information including telephone. If you send actual pictures, make good black and white copies of your pictures at any photo center that has a quick duplicate print machine and send me the copies only. With each submission, please identify the member of the Sixth by full name and unit information. Submit as many recipes, stories, and/or photos that you want. Identify each recipe by category and provide your name, address, contact information and relationship to the Sixth veteran. It is not necessary to submit a picture and/or story with each recipe but the more, the better; feel free to submit what you desire. VOLUNTEERS NEEDED
This project will be as good as you make it. Uphold the tradition of the Striking Sixth, dig in, take the challenge, and produce results! CONTACT Linda Spangler 408-356-6519 (home)
I look forward to meeting each of you in Nashville. |
