Fund Raising

A realistic estimate from the architect Is $125,888, and reflects serious research and review. These numbers traditionally tend to be conservative. Solid numbers won't be available until engineering drawings are available, after funds are raised and the Project formally started.

A lot of money? We plan to raise half from the Corporate World, leaving approximately $68,888 to be obtained from Members and others. With 3,000 active members, this would amount to about $28 per member. We believe this is a small price to pay to properly honor those of our buddies who died for our country in the service of the United States Marine Corps.

We do NOT plan to solicit funds from the association.

We're confident that with proper preparation and publicity, raising this amount of money offers a reasonable and attainable goal. Much time and effort have already been expended in this direction by your Committee.

Speedy Gaspard has willingly accepted the task of Chief Fund Raiser. Not only has he had a long and distinguished military career, he has valuable experience in this area. He has already spent countless hours phoning prospective corporate donors to determine the key fundraising contact(s).

Buzzy Fox also contributes a great deal in this area. He spearheaded the effort to raise $100,000 (In 1980s dollars) to erect the Garden of Remembrance on Okinawa, a joint effort by the 6th Marine Division, the Okinawans and the Japanese, to honor all of those who died In the Battle of Okinawa.

TIME IS OF THE ESSENCE! If we don't act now, it won't get done.

This effort will only be as successful as we want it to be. If you want future generations to know who we were and what we accomplished, LEND YOUR FULL SUPPORT.
