The Forgotten SoldiersWe live in a Country that is free, Susan Fruin Brovont by: Susan (Fruin) Brovont This poem came to us with the following note from Susan: "The following is the poem that I wrote in 1996 following the death of my father, Cpl. Alden "C" Fruin. My Mom & I miss Dad very much; along with my husband, Wayne and our two sons, Tim and Paul. Thankfully, my Dad had very frequent visitors which included my Mom whom I took to see Dad faithfully; along with my husband and sons, Dad's oldest brother and wife and his sister, and nieces who visited him often. During our many visits with Dad while he was in the VA Hospital, we noticed that there were MANY hospitalized veterans who NEVER received any visitors at all--and it made my heart so very SAD. I remember being in the big 'Sunroom' and visiting with Dad--and also talking to the other lonely veterans who weren't as fortunate to have a visitor. It is with great honor, respect and love for my father, Cpl Alden Fruin (U.S.M.C., WW II) that I wrote the following poem: (And we can never thank enough all the Marines that gave so much during WWII/and all Marines and other Service Men & Women of all wars, past and present--that have helped keep our treasured freedoms here in America. God Bless each of them and God Bless America!) "
